For Love of Dogs -- the photography of Bob Libby In November & December Vorpal Space presented "For Love of Dogs," A collection of photographs by Portland area photographer Bob Libby. The opening reception was on the First Thursday, November 2nd, and was a dog friendly event for well behaved dogs. It was well attended by many dog excited dog owners. In a world glutted with poor quality pet portraits, Mr. Libby's work stands out as being cut from different cloth. His poignant and soulful images of dogs bring out the character of his subjects and reveal his own love of the creatures. Although well known for his work with human subjects, Mr. Libby prefers dogs to human models saying "dogs are honest -- what you see is what you get." His work with dogs can be seen at www.canisstudio.com and at www.familydogsnewlife.org . The images in the show represent Mr. Libby's favorites, and have been culled from the literally tens of thousands of such images he has taken in the past 3 years of focus on canine subjects [distinct from the 10 years he has spent as a professional photographer]. In addition to his professional photography work, Mr. Libby has volunteered hundred of hours at Family Dogs New Life, a no-kill dog shelter in Portland. Many of the images in the show are of these "rescue dogs" and "problem dogs" . In accordance with the artist's wishes, a portion of the proceeds from this show will benefit Family Dogs New Life. Below are all 24 of the photographs exhibited in the November show. Please inquire as to pricing and other specifics. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Please direct any inquiries to david @ vorpalspace.com.
