Sleeper Cells -- paintings by Peter Archer ![]() In March 2007, Vorpal Space presented "Sleeper Cells" a collection of paintings by Portland area painter Peter Archer. Peter Archer is a well known Portland area painter and tattoo artist. His work is a surreal and dream like blending of disparate elements in what can easily be described as an organic fusion. Peter's paintings deal with spiritual and political issues via sweeping archetypal themes. The paintings which constitute "Sleeper Cells" are acrylic and watercolor on wood panels, and the grain of the wood is integrated in the pieces. Many of the individual pieces, or cells, form interlocking geometric shapes, which when combined reinforce and and play off of each other. Mr. Archer grew up in an artistic family and studied art at at Portland State University, before beginning a career as a tattoo artist which he has pursued for the last 13 years. His work has shown regularly in the Portland area, including adorning the bodies of many prominent locals. In addition to his work as a visual artist, Peter is a musician whose work spans a wide number of genres, more of his work can be seen at www.myspace.com/freedomfighta47.
